Avalon is Calling
A radio show aimed to inform about the spiritual, alternative and new age community in Glastonbury. Glastonbury is known for the so called hippy culture, it is a place where you will see people dressed in all sorts of coloured clothes, where you will see one weekend people dressed up as fairies and the next you will see goddesses and so on. In the High Street you will find shops which sell crystals, tarot cards, goddesses statues and anything you can call spiritual or new age. People from all over the world are attracted to come to this magical place, also called the Isle of Avalon. Part of the attraction are the legends connected to Avalon about King Arthur, Merlin, Morgana and the Holy Grail. But it is not just the legends which makes this place special, once you are here you can sense a special kind of energy that is loving and unconditional. So it is no surprise that people stay to live here, they feel more comfortable and accepted. Things that are important in the ‘normal’ world like money, career and status are looked at with a smile here in Glastonbury. Here values of love, care and respect are more important. That does not mean it is easy living in Glastonbury but it can be easier than anywhere else in the world.
In the show I will talk about themes connected to Avalon, I will talk to people who are active in this community. We will explore the background of some of the well known places, like the Tor, the Chalice Well, The Abbey, the Goddess Temple and more. The Goddess community is big in Glastonbury so what is that all about and who can explain the importance and attraction. But there are more communities, like the ashram, buddhist, and more. People from all kinds of faiths, belief systems are coming to Glastonbury where there is room for everybody.
Avalon is Calling will be broadcasted by the local community radio station in Glastonbury – GFM – for more information, please visit their website.
