The Magic of the Universe
An exclusive interview with Lynne McTaggart
By Manon Tromp
Everything is connected Ancient people have always believed it: the universe is alive and everything is connected with each other. If we ask the universe gives and there is abundance for everyone. People believed in energy and were consciously using it to create a good harvest, to heal people and to ask for material things. The earth, moon, stars and plants were all considered magic and as gratitude for their powers the people held rituals. Special magicians such as shamans had an important role within the community and were seen as messengers from the universe, who could speak with the spirits.
In a traditional witch circle, magic is a natural part of life where by speaking out your intension or by performing a ritual you can accomplish all sorts of things. Witches believe that by telling the universe your intention it will give you an answer. How this answer will come and in which shape is never known and thus, the witches saying: Be careful what you wish for, you might get it!
New Magic More and more it shows that what those witches and shamans were thinking and still are, was quite accurate. The magic from ancient times is beginning to take on a new form in this ‘new time’. Scientists increasingly discover that the universe is alive, with powers which we never thought possible. By letting go of the material and veering towards the etheric side, the unimaginable begins to take on a very real form. Increasing research and books describe the unbelievably powerful spirit of man, which is able to consciously influence all sorts of things, from moving objects to predicting future events. The universe reveals her secrets more and more, and what we have been able to comprehend up to now is just the tip of the iceberg. New sciences such as quantum physics direct their attention toward researching quantum particles and their interaction, which everything is made up of. Here, even the most down to earth scientists encounter the most unimaginable things. Still it costs these scientists a lot of effort to convince others of their results, just because they are so unimaginable. That is why the famous scientist Lynne Mc Taggart, has done research on all of these findings and compiled them in her book, The Field- the quest to the secret power of the universe.
About Lynne Lynne is a science journalist, living in England who specialises in the area of conventional and alternative medicine. The book she has written is the result of many years of work and research into healing in general, where by she frequently in her own words, encounters ‘miracles’. Miracles which couldn’t be explained by conventional medical science, but which often occurred by alternative healing. In alternative circles she often came across the term ‘fine particle energy’ and she asked herself where this energy had come from. Lynne began a personal journey wanting to know if there was scientific proof for this alternative theory. She travelled around the world speaking to researches from many countries, visited congresses of new discoveries and corresponded with recognized and prominent scientists. Eventually from the interviews she had with these scientists, (each working in their own field of energy research), she comprised the book, The Field. What these scientific findings had in common was the discovery of the Zero Point Field, an ocean of energetic vibrations which seems to connect everything in the universe, as some kind of invisible network. It is a revolutionary vision which over throws old paradigms and explains our existence.
Lynne visits the Netherlands During Lynne’s visit to The Netherlands in September, I had the opportunity to interview her about herself and book. This was an exceptional meeting for me because when I had read her book I received so many confirmations about things which I had experienced myself and how I looked at things, especially in the area regarding energy. It was like there was finally proof for matters which up until now, in our society we hadn’t dare speak of, such as the paranormal. My first remark was about this and she replied that this was something she’d often heard people say. Lynne said that she was very grateful to hear that many people had found a confirmation of their beliefs in her book. She said that people often intuitively knew those things, but couldn’t explain how they knew it, and up until now never had any explanation or confirmation.
Why did you decide to write this book? What was your goal?
Actually I felt lost. My husband and I published an internet newsletter: What doctors don’t tell you, where with a critical eye, we looked at conventional medicine and report from research that proves what works and what doesn’t. We do the same for alternative healing, trying to be extremely efficient in only speaking about proven matters. Personally we prefer alternative healing, here however, matters often cannot be proven. During our work we have encountered research from renowned scientists who have proven that spiritual healing helps and who also acknowledge that homeopathy is beneficial.I thought that if these work, then this undermines how our biology works and how the world functions, because often the interventions occur non locally, occurring from a distance. That meant that I had to investigate if the reality that we believed in was real. The best place to do so was with the scientists who were looking at these types of questions. I travelled the world meeting scientists of all fields and belief systems. What they told me punched a whole through the heart of conventional science. What they spoke of was new reality, a reality which didn’t have anything to do with seeing mankind and the world as separate parts, the way science up until now always had.
What science had always told us, was that we are separate beings, on an isolated world within an isolated universe. The scientists whom I visited had been investigating a grey area of science, an area where the average scientist didn’t want to go, a scrap which no-one wanted.
Research into quantum physics over the past years has shown us what influence we have to create our world and that everything in our world is connected. Many quantum physicians closed the door on this question, saying this topic falls under the area of philosophy. One group of scientists who were interested began to experiment and realised that a new science was arising. Their greatest problem was bringing this across to others, in such a way that the general public could understand. Meanwhile the data also needed to be compiled, as a scientist doesn’t want to go beyond the scope of his or her field.
Why don’t many scientists want to be involved with these subjects?
There are very few scientists who can expand their limits. Most scientists are fixed to a type of recipe book which explains how to run science and go no further than this. They calculate formulas without asking how or why, because if they did then the whole foundation of science would have to be revaluated. How we and the world is put together, all of these believe systems would then have to be thrown out of the window. In science it is always so that: there only needs to be a few who are searching around in the dark to find the truth and advance science, while the rest invest their time in holding onto the status-quo. Take evolution for example: there are scientists who have found traces of developed people in Stone Age remains, a time when man was supposed to have been primitive and ape like. This is archaeological proof contradicting how we thought human kind developed, demonstrating that the evolution theory is a very old fashioned and untrue theory. Scientists who found this proof, became afraid of it and so made up their own rational theory. Physicists know from their knowledge, something is not right, something is incomplete.
Presently we have the science of the physical world and the science of quantum particles but between the two very little interaction. They even contradict each other: one side saying, a chair is solid material which cannot be influenced while the other half have discovered that it is possible to influence the molecules which make up a chair and that the molecules are in the state of super position. Super position means that the possibility exists of no finishing or ending. The implications of this are huge and incalculable, because then we may ask, how much in the word isn’t changeable.
Is the average person ready to hear this?
I think the average person knows that we are not just a bundle of electronic signals with reactions. This is why we are involved with conventional religion, alternative spirituality or traditional spirituality. We are all looking for more information, like in the film Close Encounters, where Richard Dreyfuss has an impression of a world that is looking for proof and as soon as he gets it, he really goes with it. We’re all like this, we’ve got a gut instinct that there must be something else and that we must be more. I wrote my book because Western society needs to see scientific proof for everything.
How can your book help people to bring all of this into practise?
The book gives people the theory and we have developed a written course called, Living the Field, because we couldn’t answer all of the hundreds of questioning letters we’d received from people. I also developed it for myself as I also had many questions. It is a monthly course with topics such as, how to do healing, how to perceive from a distance, how to develop your paranormal gifts, how to consciously develop your dreams, all of these types of things. We give out information and scientific research, and work with themes such as Children in the Field, and Relationships in the Field. Now that we have discovered that we are not separate, everything needs to be rethought: the schooling of children, because we have left them there to fight over who is the best, but this is selling many too short.
I have also studied how ancient cultures did things, for example how they lived with the concept of time. They understood that time does not flow like an arrow but that it’s possible to go backwards or forwards in time. But how do you integrate this in your life? There is also new proof about relationships: we continuously influence each other through an invisible energy exchange, as if there are energy conversations taking place. If someone had disturbing thoughts how does that flow into you? If you think that your child in poor in maths, are you adding to this? All of these types of topics are covered in our course and there are now, Living the Field, groups which come together and work.
During our conferences we tell people all about this, the people come from everywhere, also many from The Netherlands. We tell them if they want to do something with these topics, to start a group and get going and also to correspond with other groups. We give them questions to think about, so as, when do you meditate actually? At what point in the day and what works for you? and we look into these responses. We ask, when do you send out your intentions and if they keep a dream journal. This helps everyone to consciously live, because so many people live without a purpose and do things they actually don’t want to do. They ask themselves, why aren’t I happy and why is my life so boring. Happily this is beginning to change, this can be seen by the types of films which are being brought out, so as “What the Bleep”. Here they say actually, lets stop living minimally, lets think big. It was actually the old cultures which were doing well: they really understood how things worked and lived much more holistically. They believed that their ancestors still existed, only in another shape and that after death we also exist: that everything is connected and that everything is alive.
Is it necessary to have reached a certain level of consciousness to partake?
No, I think that if people are open enough to say that they believe time and space are not what we think they are, or that we know but a fraction of what is possible to know, then I believe that they are open enough to accept another level of reality.
How do you incorporate this into your life?
I try to think to consciously and think especially positive thoughts about my children. My oldest daughter is sixteen, she had a bad time a few years ago at school, we ended up taking her out and home schooling her. After a period it went better for her and she returned to her old school. She was involved in exams and she’d also signed up for further education, but her results were always poor and I was worried in case things would ever improve. Even her teachers were pessimistic, so I began intensively with intension. She applied to eight schools; I sent much intension to the school which I thought she would be most happiest attending. She thought that she wouldn’t make it but it did on the basic of an extremely good interview she had there. She was accepted and her exam results were very good, thus it works.
And further I try to think what I can do to create a good atmosphere in our business. We don’t allow any tormentors there and we try not to have a hierarchy or negative thinkers.I try to push the boat out with science, so as in my new book The Intention Experiment. In the book we invite readers to be involved with the experiments at set times and we read their results. I would also like to have clarity on what an intension actually is, what do we actually mean and how can we work with them. I am working with a number of the scientists whom I interviewed and it’s becoming our own scientific experiment, so I’m curious to know what the outcome will be.
Don’t you think that people may misuse this material to obtain more material goods?
I think that people misused their intension already and always have done. Most people send out negative thoughts, because who can think positive the entire time? We walk around sending negative thoughts out and create consequently our own world that is how we have been using intension up until now. That’s why I think the book will allow us to be conscience of how we think and what we can do to change it.
In the book you speak about the collective conscience, where does this consciousness come from?
I think we need to begin to see ourselves not as the source of conscience. We must see ourselves as a radio receiving the information, but not its source. We are picking up information continuously, usually from one frequency, but when we can receive information which is outside of our normal senses, then that can be on many different frequencies. Consciousness is in the field and as we are quantum particles we are thus connected.
Does this mean that we will never die?
No, I think that we let go of this body and return to the field. I’ve thought a lot about it and lots of interesting information has come out, which implies that we don’t die. The scientist Gary Schwartz for example has done much research and worked with mediums, who knew a lot of about deceased people who they couldn’t have know about. The Dutch heart surgeon Pim van Lommel, has researched peoples near death experiences and has had astonishing data. People who were officially dead, who had no heart beat, could tell what had happened during their ‘death’. One man who had ended up in the hospital due to an accident and had arrived there actually dead had seen where staff had stored his clothes, glasses, and false teeth. When he regained consciousness a few days later he asked where the blond nurse was who had put away his false teeth. He couldn’t have known this because he was ‘dead’ during this time. There are so many of these type of stories, which imply that there is consciousness which isn’t connected to our brains.
What is our goal on this earth?
Our goal is to learn and the most important thing is to live from love. Our learning goal is: to learn to have love, to let go and to accept and cherish every one of our quantum particles. For this we need another way of thinking and to realise that getting there doesn’t mean at the cost of another. It’s about knowing that you are not separate and learning to experience this oneness.
How can people heal themselves?
There are four pillars of health:
An individually devised diet, because a diet which fits everyone doesn’t exist. It depends upon a person’s metabolic type. More movement, not only through sport, but by being active at curtain moments throughout the day. Be alert to poisonous substances; know what you swallow and what’s in your environment. Your mental attitude, actually this is the most important, and has been proven by among others cancer patients, who knew how to turn their illness around by turning their attitude around. Why is it that sometimes cancer is all of sudden gone, like it had never existed? There is very interesting literature about this, how spontaneous healing has occurred with a change of attitude playing a decisive role in this.

PARANORMAL IS VERY NORMAL
The word ‘paranormal’ can give various reactions, but usually one of disbelief. For many people paranormal means something of another world, not of this one: it is scary and considered to be science fiction. Paranormal means that one can observe more than a person usually does with the regular senses. These observations are usually contributed to a psychic, someone who is gifted with a sixth sense. One would expect that a normal person would not be able to have these observations, or maybe you would think that, wouldn’t you?
What is normal? Who describes it, who decides it? How do we come to this conclusion and is this true? It is time that we pose this question, because it is becoming more obvious that we still do not have all the answers. Scientific research and people’s experiences teach us that there is more out there, than we have assumed so far. An increasing amount of people are getting into their own research, because they can not accept what just appears to be so. They feel intuitively that more is possible and that there is more than just our world. Many questions are being asked about who we are, where we come from and why we are here. These questions have always been there, but now it seems there is an explosion of more and more people trying to find answers. Books are rapidly appearing explaining the paranormal and the paranormal issue is becoming very popular in movies and television series, like Charmed and Medium. Psychics everywhere are doing excellent business and even science is starting to go more public with their research of this phenomena. Quantum physics is one of these sciences and even parapsychologists are being taken more serious.
Parapsychology is the area of psychology which researches the possible psychic powers of the human being which scientifically seem unexplainable. Parapsychology has not been acknowledged for a long time as a science and has been the ridicule of scientists in general. This has mostly to do with the fact that it has been very difficult to prove results based on the basic regular science norms and values. These values demand hard proof and evidence, but because you are dealing with invisible forces, these evidences are very hard to get. From this you can conclude that it is time that new values and norms are being added to the existing ones. Science operates with logical and analytical thinking, which is very much a left brain activity. Our paranormal power is a right brain activity, so maybe it is about time we balance science.
Paranormal powers What are paranormal powers? Which powers do we refer to? In the beginning of this article, I talked about our observations outside our five regular senses: hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting and feeling. With these senses we hear birds sing, see a beautiful sunset, feel the soft sheet on our body, smell a lovely flower and taste a sour apple. However each of us has had unexplained observations, like seeing a energy shape or hearing a voice when nobody is around or knowing that the phone is going to ring and who it will be. These are observations which are usually being kept to us, because another person might call you crazy. These observations are usually done by our sixth sense, but not everyone is aware that they have a sixth sense and the way they can come about, can be different for each person. The best is to observe which seems to be your talent and work with that.
Paranormal is more than just seeing ghosts, which is often associated with this word. It is a scary thought for most people just the idea they can suddenly see their passed away granny, so they shut of their connection to their sixth sense. Not only that, but the idea that there could be more between heaven and earth is something not everyone is willing to accept. They choose to deny this and carry on with their usually lonely lives and that way loose the opportunity to create a better life. By developing your paranormal powers, it is possible to get a better grip on yourself and your environment. For this, it is fundamental that you see the earth, the universe and especially us as energy. Science has already proven that we exist out of small energy particles and that makes us energy beings and to be able to observe energy and to understand it, we need our paranormal powers. The energetic exchanges that take place constantly influences our thinking and our behaviour, so the more conscious be you are of the exchanges, the better you can react and make your choices in life. Often, because energy is not visible with our eyes, people think that it does not exist and so it is not important to them to take into consideration. This is one of the biggest misconceptions that exist and it blocks important changes of consciousness that are needed to develop and grow. It leads daily to poor decisions on a high level in politics and big companies. We are more than just our bodies and only when we change our thinking, we can move on. We can then create a better reality and not be dependent on influences we think are outside our control.
Old Civilizations
Our western society is based on rational thinking, but in older days this used to be not the case: they were more in touch with the paranormal and used it daily. When the Christian Church took over, old behaviour based on energetic connection with the earth, was quickly banned. The only connection which was allowed, was the connection to God and how you did was decided for you. We still experience the consequences of these dogmatic teachings and it is for most people very difficult to release themselves from that conditioning and to be open to connect with nature. The Celts for instance, used to live in harmony with the energy of the earth and the planets: what happened outside of them, was in direct connection to what happened inside them. To seek advice from psychics like druids and even witches was considered to be very natural and normal. The same applies to other civilizations like the native Indians, the aboriginals and the bush people from Africa. The interesting thing is that they all developed sort of the same customs in how to connect with nature and the earth, without knowing of each others existence. It may seem strange that I call them civilizations and not primitives, because I feel these people were and still are in much better contact with inner beings and their environment than western people are. I will even suggest that we are the primitives in this and I am quite certain that in about a hundred years from now, we will be considered like that. We may be civilized in our own eyes, because we have wealth and material riches, but the real wealth is to be found in our souls. Unfortunately many of the old civilizations do not exist anymore, because we have done much to intervene and extinguish them. Those who are left can be our teachers, so we should treasure them and learn as much as we can from their wisdom.
To work with your paranormal powers
So far so good, but how do you begin to work with your paranormal powers? There are several ways to do that, but it is important to find your own way. The power is there, but needs to be practised and experienced quite a lot. It is kind of like developing your cooking skills in order to be a chef. You also need to find out where your talent lies: clairvoyance, sensing, Clair knowing, how do you find out? You can do a workshop or pay a visit to a psychic or a spiritual advisor, but be sure to trust your instincts, because not everyone will be suited to help you develop. Do not be impressed by someone, just because they are more advanced than you. The important thing is to feel safe and secure and to feel that you can trust them. We are all equal souls and one can have their talents more developed than another, so what? Trust your intuition, your gut feeling, because that is what you need to work with to develop your powers. Try not to be influenced by fear of the unknown, by uncertainties or other emotions and keep a diary to see how you develop. Do not get carried away by the stories of ghosts and evil spirits, because than you give it energy and it will come about. Be positive, grounded and feel the love that supports you: you can not go wrong.
